There are a ba-jillion resources available to gardeners and urban homesteaders these days, but here we will list a few of our go-to, must-have, buy-them-now favorites.
- University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension * Find free publications like “Home Gardening in Kentucky” * Call their garden hotline with your questions: (502) 569-2344 * Take a class to learn how to preserve your garden’s bounty, or become a master gardener!
- Community Gardens in Louisville Most of the urban gardens (those in the former city of Louisville limits) are full. Please call for availability (502) 569-2344. Note that there are also a few independent community gardens in the city that are not affiliated with UW Extension.
- 15,000 Farmers Creating, Inspiring, and Empowering 15,000 people to grow food in Louisville
- Louisville Land Bank Authority This agency acquires, manages, and sells vacant lots in the city. (502) 574-3107
